Athlone Counselling & Therapy is not an emergency service

 

Online Therapy is not suitable if

(1) You are at risk of severe self-harm or harm to others.

(2) Experiencing psychosis, trauma, or severe personality disorder or ongoing addiction.

 

Please contact the emergency services if you need urgent help now 112 or 999. Or contact your GP.

Also consider the following services which may be better equipped to deal with urgent situations.

The Samaritans

Whatever you’re facing, a Samaritan will face it with you.

​

Every six seconds, Samaritans answer a call for help.

​

They are here, day or night, for anyone who’s struggling to cope, who needs someone to listen without judgement or pressure.

​

Samaritans is not only for the moment of crisis, they're taking action to prevent the crisis.

​

Pieta House

Pieta provides free therapy to those engaging in self-harm, with suicidal ideation, or bereaved by suicide.

 

They provide a professional one-to-one therapeutic service to people who are in suicidal distress, those who engage in self-harm, and those bereaved by suicide. 

 

All of their services are provided free of charge and no referral is needed.

Esker House Women's Refuge and Domestic Abuse Support Service provides temporary safe accommodation for women and their children and support and information for women experiencing domestic abuse.

 

Domestic abuse can happen within any relationship and across all members of society.  There are many behaviours and can indicate domestic abuse,  you do not need to experience several, or all of them, for your relationship to be abusive.

HSE

HSE Provides a list of out of hours doctors who are qualified in a different areas of expertise.
